Sonic Labs featured visual artists and musicians combine their skills and backgrounds for a new performance of their developing collaborative practice.  The piece “Refractive/Aberrant” is thematically based on the spectrum of visible light; an exploration of different timbres and sound-worlds in relation to (or in the absence of) light and colour.  Themes of surroundings, culture and science culminate in a new, dynamic audio/visual performance.   

Interested in finding new approaches to contemporary performance, the artists perform in spaces where the audience can move around freely, offering ownership and freedom in their experience of the sound and visuals.

An evening of cosmic soundscapes and textures, provided by Sonic Labs, a collective of D&G based sound artists and improvisers, combined with the interstellar live visuals of the Dark Space Planetarium. Live musicians will create a bespoke and interactive soundtrack to a journey throughout the galaxy.

Five Dumfries-based composers and sound artists combine instrumental performances, field recordings, live electronics and interactive visuals in a series of new experimental works, performed live at the Stove Cafe.
